About Me

Edie Jeffers Summit Award

Writing, Clarity, and Communication

For more than three decades, my work has centered on helping organizations explain what they do with clarity, care, and precision.

I’ve supported communication work across government, education, healthcare, nonprofits, finance, and other public‑interest settings, always with an emphasis on clear thinking, plain language, and respect for readers.

In 2022, the Puget Sound Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America recognized my work with its PR Professional of the Year award. The honor reflected a body of work focused on improving clarity, accessibility, and tone in public‑facing communication—particularly within government and community‑serving organizations.

Over the course of my career, this work has included establishing editorial and language standards, coaching individuals and teams in clear communication practices, and supporting organizations as they worked to move from overly bureaucratic language toward writing that is more direct, inclusive, and understandable.

Much of this experience has involved helping people think carefully about what they need to say before deciding how to say it.

Projects I’ve been involved in have received regional and national recognition from professional organizations, including awards from PRSA, Granicus, and the National Association of Government Communicators, for work related to public information and digital communication during complex or high‑stakes moments.

Today, I bring editorial rigor, thoughtful questioning, and a deep respect for authentic voice to every project. Whether the work involves coaching a founder, drafting or revising a legislative explainer, or helping untangle ideas before anything is written, the goal remains the same: clarity, understanding, and language that fits.

Outside of work, I’m a Masters Olympic weightlifter, speak Welsh, and spend as much time as possible in the garden.
